Knowing your own style is definitely essential to building your personal brand. Everyone is so different in many ways when it comes to style.  Clothing can give others an idea of your character, and it even boosts your confidence if you're feeling good about what you're wearing. If you want to enhance your style or simply learn more, try some of these tips below.

Balancing proportions.

Balancing proportions is all about styling your outfits to create an overall aesthetic harmony. The way you achieve this by making sure to be balanced within the look you're putting together. Try pairing an oversized shirt with fitted bottoms, or a cropped tank with wide pants. However, nothing is wrong with oversized/unusual shaped proportions all throughout the outfit. Sometimes it's just fitting to find that balance.

Experimenting with color.

Many people are hesitant when it comes to adding color into an outfit. Adding color will more than likely enhance the look you were going for. Start with neutral pieces, and slowly add in colorful pieces. As you learn how to play with color, you'll become more comfortable in how you want your colors to harmonize together.

Mixing patterns/styles.

This connects with experimenting with color. Nobody is matching from head to toe anymore. These days, we are seeing more of the clashing patterns and styles. Something like zebra print pants are worn with a bright orange crop top. More than likely, nothing in the outfit is matching but it has correlation. Never be afraid to put together pieces that don't exactly go together. It gives you an extra "uummph!"

Staying within your wardrobe.

Make sure you have the most generic items in your closet: A pair of jeans, a neutral colored mini dress, simple T-shirt, neutral button-downs, and a denim jacket or any other kind of jackets work. The reason for having these is so that you can learn how to style with what you have; with the basics of course. This is a step towards learning to style.

Plan accordingly.

I am not the best shopper nor planner, but I try to be for my outfits. I think planning your outfits head, or even getting a visual is essential to long-term styling. Try shopping for things you don't have and things you could potentially wear in the future. It could be just a few items, which will turn into more as you visualize. Think about what you lack or what your closet lacks. But also think about that trip you planned a month from now and integrate those ideas!
